The team

Shoosmiths Plot Sales Team is a key part of Shoosmiths Living Sector acting for national and regional housebuilders and developers selling their new build plots.   

The role

Shoosmiths are seeking a Conveyancing Assistant to join our Plot Sales Team who act on behalf of developers, traders, entrepreneurs and home builders across the UK.

As a Conveyancing Assistant, you will join a team who are responsible for providing full administrative support (including audio typing) to our national plots team. You will be responsible for producing legal documentation to a high level of accuracy and working with your team to ensure deadlines and performance targets are met.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is looking to move into a growing practice and develop a legal career, as full training will be given around the end-to-end conveyancing lifecycle.

Main responsibilities

As a Conveyancing Assistant your remit will include providing excellent client care and service, answering incoming calls and dealing with enquires, sales updates and taking messages where required. As such, you will need excellent communication skills along with a customer service background.

You will be involved with the end-to-end conveyancing life-cycle which will include opening and inception of the files onto the relevant case management system, preparation of plot sale paperworkprocuring conveyancing searchesprocessing exchange of contractscompletion procedures, dealing with Land Registry requisitions on title, and registration procedures.

Furthermore you will undertake a range of administrative duties to support the Conveyancers which may include audio typingdata input onto the relevant case management and finance systems, dealing with incoming and outgoing post, and preparing bills

Skills and qualifications

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills and it would be helpful to have previous experience working in a customer service position. You will enjoy working as part of a team and also possess excellent organisational and time-management skills. A strong attention to detail is also required, as you will be drafting legal paperwork, inputting data and audio typing. 

You will be passionate about helping people and like to be thoroughly organised to prioritise work independently.
